Tennis, Anyone!

A dozen children in the neighborhood took tennis lessons this summer taught by Matt Sobieski,an experienced teacher and tennis player. He came up with the idea of bringing lessons to inner city kids since he was already teaching tennis to young people in the suburbs. Tennis skills and games such as Sharks and Minnows,Wally Walking and Slime didn’t prove too much for these kids who never even had a racket in their hands before!

Entrepreneurs at work!
Four teens participated in a class designed for learning about commerce through buying items and selling them on e-Bay. Taught by a local entreprenuer who has his own business using e-Bay, these girls and boys picked up writing and accounting skills too. They even organized a yard sale with items not sold. After pooling their money as a team would do, each earned $40.00 in the process. One said, "Gee, where else would I learn this!" Sister Mary Virginia’s ’dream class’ happened and will most likely lead to another class on related topics.
