"Mary went as quickly as she could . . . As soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit." Luke 1:39-40

Faithful to the tradition of the Visitation and in the spirit of Mary's visit to Elizabeth, the apostolic dimension of our lives is respectful of our monastic life. In any work we undertake we seek to continue the mission of Christ in our time, and do so with a sense of mission to the Church.

We believe that the effectiveness of our apostolic service derives from our union with each other in God through love. We serve God and the people of God by who we are as well as by what we do, individually and as a community.

Traditionally we have engaged in an educational ministry, working with children from early childhood to young womanhood in our secondary schools. Today our focus is on sharing our Visitation charism both within our school communities and with others who are seeking a deeper spirituality. This is being accomplished in a variety of ways with a single aim in mind: to extend contemplative hospitality to those seeking a closer union with Jesus Christ.

Some of the ways include:

A new paradigm of monastic life: Here the Sisters support the poor and marginalized people among whom they live by their prayerful and compassionate presence.

An Associates Program: Here young women live together in community on campus while working or attending college classes. All assist in the ministry of the Sisters with whom they are in close contact.

Faith-sharing groups and retreats: Here adults of all ages gather with the Sisters to explore in more depth our spirituality and charism. Through reading, discussion, and daily practice, the participants learn to live Jesus.

An apostolic outreach: Here the Sisters act as a liaison between the affluent and the needy by encouraging service at the apostolic outreach supported by their religious community.

Spreading the charism: Here individual Sisters develop books, articles, talks, websites, greeting cards, etc. all designed to share our charism of living Jesus by seeing Jesus in others and by being Jesus for others.

All our monasteries remain open to the Spirit in the new vistas before us. Our Salesian spirituality comes alive as our communities increasingly become centers of gentleness.

We are religious women dedicated to praying for the needs of the world, listening to the call of God in the present moment, and embracing all those seeking a deeper spiritual life.

With God's grace we respond generously each day to the radical and prophetic mission to which the Gospel, our tradition, and contemporary culture call us.
